Aalam Bibi wants to construct its state-of-the-art, purpose-built school building, consisted of the area of 12 Kanal situated on Chandry Village, Defense Road, Lahore (near Chungi Amar Sadhu).
The campus of Aalam Bibi Trust is designed using a Sustainable design approach. The inward facing school campus comprises of series of courtyards connected through a central open space providing opportunity for flexible and multifunction set-ups.
The school will have 3 blocks
- Academic Block: to provide formal education to students from pre school and matriculation
- Fine Arts Block: to provide learning opportunities for students having an artistic mindset and inclination towards arts and design
- Vocational Training Block: comprises of workshop spaces to create a learning and skill development platform to provide the basic foundation and hands-on education in learning a skill to become an expert technician, mechanic, electrician, computer hardware, and software expert, etc.
Along with educational blocks, following features are part and parcel of Aalam Bibi Campus.
- Green spaces and multiple roof gardens are spatially integrated in the buildings
- Semi-covered Amphitheatre and central lawn is soul of the building that facilitates learning outside the classroom
- Raised admin building block directly opens into central space creating a welcoming environment and a sense of openness
- In an age of air-conditioned schools becoming increasingly popular, we have attempted an energy-efficient approach that utilizes solar energy minimizing electrical load during the day due to passive cooling optimized with adequate natural light and ventilation
- For easy maintenance and durability building is proposed in high quality fine brick and exposed concrete, which is expected to be taken over in time by greenery
- Jalis (shading and ventilation) screens wrapping around various parts of building and cavity walls act as minor insulating and light filtering elements to cut down the sun especially on south-west face of building.
- Modular classroom of 384 sq. ft (16x24) is used. The classrooms on either side flank an 8ft wide single-loaded corridor with planters instead of railing opens up to a central open-to-sky courtyard
- Segregated space for Dastarkhwan has been provided for laborers and students
